US General Services Administration announces launch of the "Community Guide to Y2K" website
The US General Services Administration (GSA) has created a website for local communities to use in educating their citizens on how Y2K may affect their daily lives. Designed around the basic needs of daily life (Power, Water, Food and so on), a citizen can:
-- learn the current status of Y2K preparations; -- find questions to ask their local grocer, banker, pharmacist and others about Y2K; -- print out letters to send to their goods and service providers concerning Y2K; and -- learn more about other communities preparing for Y2K.
If you would like to help promote the web site, please do the following:
1. Print our one-page flyer that announces the web site (http://www.itpolicy.gsa.gov/mks/yr2000/community/download.htm) and post it on your information bulletin board and other areas where the general public can see the flyer.
2. Bookmark the site (http://www.itpolicy.gsa.gov/mks/yr2000/community/community.htm) on your public Internet web browsers under a folder with other Y2K sites.
3. Please announce the website in newsletters and other publications that you give to the public.
Feel free to pass on this information to local community groups and organizations. If you want additional information or need help on the Y2K effort, call us at (202) 208-1045. Thanks for taking part in helping us prepare local communities for Y2K.
